Thailand and Chinese Business Partners Sign Quality Tourism Agreement

Thailand is actively working to promote high-quality tourism for Chinese travelers through a new agreement with prominent Chinese businesses.

During his inaugural official visit to China, Thailand’s Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin presided over the signing ceremony of a letter of intent (LOI) between the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and eight major players in the Chinese tourism industry. Srettha said, “This signing of the LOI will lay a framework for long-term strategic cooperation on promoting quality tourism and maintaining tourists’ confidence in Thailand.”

The agreement, signed by Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, and high-ranking executives from strategic tourism partners including Huawei Technologies, Trip.com Group, Meituan.com, Spring Airlines, Sina News, Alipay, iQIYI, and Jego Trip, aims to enhance the confidence of Chinese tourists and elevate the overall quality of tourism experiences in Thailand.

To increase Chinese tourists’ trust and high-quality travel to Thailand, an agreement was signed by Thapanee Kiatphaibool, governor of TAT, and top executives of the eight strategic tourism partners, including Huawei Technologies, Trip.com Group, Meituan.com, Spring Airlines, Sina News, Alipay, iQIYI, and Jego Trip.

Thapanee said, “This LOI is the largest cooperation agreement that represents the greatest coverage of travel alliance businesses in the Chinese market covering all steps of the customer journey.”

By providing Thailand’s travel information through these prominent Chinese platforms, the TAT aims to utilize this partnership strategically. The objective is to enhance Thailand’s positive image as a premier tourist destination and bolster tourists’ confidence in choosing Thailand for their travels. This collaboration is anticipated to promote the country’s tourism industry.

The partnership with eight prominent tourism companies in China is expected to enhance collaboration in tourism-related technology for Thailand’s tourism industry. Additionally, it aims to promote top-notch tourism experiences in Thailand, solidifying the country’s position as a preferred destination for travelers.

In the end, this will assist in achieving the goal of 4 million to 4.4 million Chinese visitors in 2023, producing more than 200 billion Baht, and increasing this year’s total number of tourist arrivals to 25 million to 30 million. Thailand registered 2,645,885 Chinese visitors from Jan. 1 to Oct. 15, ranking it as the second-largest tourism market.
