Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, part of IHG Hotels & Resorts’ luxury & lifestyle portfolio, will open a new boutique hotel in New York City, marking the brand’s second in the market. Set to open this fall, Kimpton Hotel Theta will be located a block off Times Square in the city’s Theater District.
An adaptive-reuse of an existing mixed-use hotel, the new Kimpton Hotel Theta was originally imagined by Morris Lapidus, the pioneer of Miami Modern Architecture. The reimagined hotel will span 15 floors and feature 364 guestrooms, inclusive of five suites, including a 1,100-sq.-ft. penthouse.
Amenities will include morning coffee and tea, evening social hour, “Forgot It? We’ve Got it!” amenity program, 24-hour fitness center, in-room yoga mats, custom-designed PUBLIC bikes and a no-fee pet policy. The design-forward hotel will also offer a 3,200-sq.-ft. rooftop restaurant by TableOne Hospitality; a grab-and-go market and coffee service in the lobby; and approximately 1,100 sq. ft. of meeting space.
“We’re looking forward to bringing another Kimpton to the New York City market, and Kimpton Hotel Theta will bring an unexpected, refreshing experience to the Midtown West neighborhood,” said Mike DeFrino, managing director, Luxury & Lifestyle Americas, IHG Hotels & Resorts. “The hotel will serve as a boutique oasis designed to delight all guests who are looking to stay in the middle of it all but also have space to recharge and reset.”
Operated by Highgate, Kimpton Hotel Theta will join Kimpton Hotel Eventi as the brand’s second hotel in New York City.
Arash Azarbarzin, CEO, Highgate, said, “As the newest addition to Highgate’s growing lifestyle and luxury portfolio, Hotel Theta offers an unrivaled experience for travelers and locals with its reimagined design, dynamic programming and soaring rooftop lounge.”
