Advantage Travel Partnership responds to Easyjet flight disruption

The Advantage Travel Partnership reacted to the news EasyJet is cancelling flights for thousands of customers.

“Changes to travel plans can be stressful, and those impacted will be having to seek alternative flight arrangements now,” said CEO Julia Lo Bue-Said.

She urges customers to be aware of their consumer rights and options.

“Passengers are entitled to travel on any other airline that has seats available on the original day of travel.”

“They are entitled to cash compensation if they aren’t rebooked onto a flight that arrives close to the original time.”

“However, for context, these cancellations only represent a small percentage of the total summer departures.”

Booking with a travel agent always offers an extra safeguard.

“Ultimately, when it comes to booking holidays, we always advise booking with a travel agent.”

“Agents have an incredible amount of knowledge but also help customers with travel disruption and ensuring that they receive the compensation.”

Easyjet pre-emptively cancelled 1,700 flights for July, August and September.

Most are to and from London Gatwick Airport.

The carrier cited air traffic control issues as well as potential strikes.

Most of the thousands of affected customers have already been re-booked onto other flights, it says.
