Ocean Pearl Spa, located at the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa, has officially reopened after undergoing an interior renovation and reimagination of its treatment and service offerings, including a new product partnership with local brand Skin Authority designed to enhance each guest’s overall wellness experience.
Guided by a personalized and holistic approach to wellness, the treatment therapies include soothing body polishes, tailored massages, custom facials, all featuring marine-based botanicals and skin care products made to nourish and restore. The spa has also partnered with Carlsbad-based Skin Authority to offer the company’s selection of clean performance and sustainable skincare products including their Vitamin A Cell Renewal and Tri-Power Peptide Hydrator which will be incorporated into the spa’s facial treatments.
From full-body exfoliation and rehydration to healing facials and stress-alleviating massages, each treatment is designed to heal minds and bodies and deliver an all-over sense of renewal. Guests can try the Eternal Youth Facial for advanced age-defying properties or the ocean exfoliation body treatment with a sugar reef scrub to reveal hydrated, glowing skin. The therapeutic deep tissue massage offers an intense sense of relaxation and relief and can be upgraded with CBD benefits.
“The transformation of the spa is only a glimpse into the many plans we have in store this year for the resort”, said Susan Le, general manager, Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa. “We want to be a part of our guests’ wellness journeys when they visit the property, whether it’s those traveling for business or pleasure and need a reset or locals wanting a day of pampering.”
In addition to the new selection of treatment therapies, the spa interiors were also refreshed. The ambiance celebrates the Carlsbad coast complete with calming tones and seaside chic decor throughout its eight treatment rooms, relaxation areas and locker rooms.
Additionally, the Westin Carlsbad Resort & Spa appointed a new director of spa & wellness, Angela Kies. The appointment is part of an overall effort to strengthen the resort’s wellness offerings in response to the high demand and popularity of wellness tourism in the hospitality sector. Kies will be instrumental in the planning and development of new practices and services offered at the luxury spa, according to the property.
Kies’ career began with guiding people through the rugged terrain of Bridger-Teton Wilderness, which is where she discovered her passion for health, education, hospitality and leadership. Prior to her role as director of spa & wellness, the New York native worked in various roles, including massage therapy instructor, massage therapist, personal trainer, group exercise instructor, front office manager, human resources manager, peace corps volunteer and wilderness ranger. These experiences showed her the power of a positive mindset, which she hopes to pass along to her new team.
“In my new role as spa director, I hope to create a space of relaxation, wellness, and luxury for our resort guests and locals,” said Kies. “I’m looking forward to expanding our spa offerings to include wellness activities and even spa membership opportunities. I want guests to experience the ultimate sense of tranquility throughout our beautiful coastal property, not just limited to the spa.”
