Miguel added that they need to, as an industry, assist and tell people regarding the sustainable alteration of the industry. They need to instruct travelers on the way they should travel sustainably and that is a duty that they’ll have to follow as a spokesperson of the industry.
Also, Sanz exercised words of caution to the global travel which has still to go a long way to attain its 2050 net-zero emissions goals.
He added that they are not unexpectedly going to turn into a sustainable destination or an industry instantly.
They need to expedite the process to arrive at net zero in areas like water and waste management, energy efficiency and things that will make tourism a workable sector.
Sanz also said that Spain is completely committed to its sustainability alteration, from regional offices to the national government.
He outlined the way the Spanish government has distributed €1.9 billion from the Next Generation fund of EU to help the sustainability initiatives of the country since 2019.
These finances go mostly to authorities and place of the local region and to put into practice projects that will help the destinations attain this transformation.
