Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

Transylvania Tourism Authority endorses ‘Year of the Trail’ campaign

The Transylvania County Tourism Development Authority (TCTDA) has endorsed North Carolina’s “Year of the Trail” project. According to a news release, North Carolina is known as the “Great Trails State,” and the TCTDA recognises the importance of connecting people with the outdoors.

The TCTDA believes the initiative will help promote a healthy lifestyle and provide an opportunity for visitors to explore the county’s trails.

The TCTDA’s visitor surveys continually reveal that outdoor recreation is the top reason for visitors to Transylvania County, and the variety of trails in the area plays a vital role. Hiking, biking, strolling, horseback riding, paddling, and other activities are made possible by the paths in the area.

These paths have always been a cornerstone of the organization’s attempts to promote the region, but this year’s efforts will be much more targeted.

The TCTDA has created a marketing campaign called ‘Year of the Trail’ to inform visitors about the various ways they can celebrate trails in Transylvania County. The campaign will include:

•A series of 14 blogs focusing on trails from different angles, from history to wildflowers to waterways to asking users to be sure to Leave It Better on the trails
•Engaging social media posts throughout the year aligned with the Great Trails State coalition #yearofthetrailnc #yearofthetrail
•Infusing the Year of the Trail in digital ads, e-blasts, and other marketing efforts

“With over 100,000 acres of public lands, 300 miles of epic singletrack, 250 waterfalls and the third oldest river in the world, we certainly have a lot to celebrate when it comes to the Year of the Trail,” said TCTDA Executive Director Clark Lovelace.

“We look forward to focusing on our amazing trails in our promotion this year and continuing to push for appropriate behavior by users when they’re out on the trails.”
