(Los Angeles) With more than 5.5 million passengers in November, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) exceeded 60 million passengers for the first 11 months of the year, driven largely by continued growth in international traffic.
The airport reported a total of 5,582,337 passengers in November, an increase of about 13% from 4,928,977 total passengers in the same month last year. International passenger traffic grew from 877,281 travelers in November 2021 to 1,456,717 passengers in November 2022, an increase of about 66%.
“The innovative concept behind Hudson Nonstop gives our guests the convenience and speed they are looking for when they are shopping in an airport store,” said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, LAWA. “LAX is building a digital marketplace that allows passengers to control their journey using the latest available technology, and Hudson Nonstop fits seamlessly into what we want our guests to experience.”
"The growth in LAX passenger traffic this year has been driven in large part by an increased return to international travel, which totals about 15 million passengers through November," said Justin Erbacci, Chief Executive Officer, Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA). "These are the best numbers we have seen since the pandemic began in early 2020. While our overall recovery will take additional time to reach the record-setting numbers of 2019, we are optimistic that travel will continue to strengthen in 2023."
For the year through November, overall passenger traffic at LAX is up 40.5% compared with the same time in 2021 with a total of 60,151,830 passengers. The number of international guests during that time is up 115.74% compared to 2021 (14,911,123 vs. 6,911,477), while domestic passengers are up 26.01% (45,240,707 vs. 35,902,018).
