Conversations about hotel distribution and revenue management inevitably reference some of the impediments many chains and independent properties are facing today – things such as legacy technology, complicated integrations and inefficient, or nonexistent, data sharing.
But what if the conversation centered around how distribution and revenue management would be handled if a property was starting from scratch?
That is the question posed to Klaus Kohlmayr, chief evangelist at IDeaS, and George Roukas, partner at Hudson Crossing, in a conversation in the PhocusWire studio at The Phocuswright Conference.
The two discuss the need for cloud-native, microservice-based systems that recognize and accommodate customers with personalized interactions before, during and after a stay.
And they express optimism that innovation is accelerating and widespread change is just around the corner.
“I think we’ve seen more change in the hotel distribution models in the last 5 years than in the 25 that came before,” Roukas says.
And says Kohlmayr, “As soon as one hotel company cracks it, everyone else will too.”
