The JAL Group is ramping up its commitment to sustainability, to achieve virtually zero CO2 emissions by 2050, we will promote upgrading to fuel-efficient aircraft, improving flight operations, and utilizing SAF (Sustainable Aviation Fuel). As part of these efforts, Japan Airlines Co., Ltd(JAL) has signed an agreement with Japan Overseas Infrastructure Investment Corporation for Transportation and Urban Development (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, hereinafter "JOIN")(*1) to cooperate with each other on initiatives aimed at manufacturing and procuring sustainable aviation fuel (Sustainable Aviation Fuel, hereinafter "SAF") overseas (the SAF projects).
Based on the agreement, JAL will provide advice and other support to the SAF projects that JOIN participates in overseas, based on its experience and know-how in aviation business, and JOIN will work to increase and secure opportunities for Japanese air carriers to procure SAF stably by expanding opportunities for investment in SAF projects and making efforts to supply SAF to JAL.
JAL will continue to accelerate procurements to uplift SAF globally and advance the commercialization, promotion and expansion of the domestically produced SAF through the ACT FOR SKY activities.
