Zurab Pololikashvili, the Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) became familiar with the sights of Samarkand, where in 2023, the 25th meeting of the UNWTO General Assembly will be organized.
The Secretary-General, along with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov, became familiar with the history of Registan Square, and visited the workshops of artisans, seeing their crafts.
Aziz Abdukhakimov and Zurab Pololikashvili also participated in the event of sending off the caravan, prearranged with the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Cultural Heritage by a group of football fans and bloggers who are visiting the World Cup in Qatar to stand for the tourism potential of Uzbekistan.
The caravan with a campaign group will leave Samarkand and travel along the route to Kazakhstan to Qatar. The group will organize important campaigning events within the structure of the World Cup to be held in Qatar from November 20 to December 20.
