At present, tourism indicators are very optimist! In Mauritius, from 1st October, the peak season started off and is shaping up at the same time. The Director of MTPA, Arvind Bundhun, said that 2022 has witnessed a very positive start and the peak season looks extremely promising as well. For end-of-year vacations, the first test of the attractiveness of the destination is traditionally the high occupancy rates recorded by hotels and accommodations.
Arvind Bundhun said that after the pandemic, they have been experiencing an interesting recovery with a number of their markets growing rapidly than two years back. He also added that this is a proof that Mauritius has kept hold of its powerful image and that their strategy has been a major success so far.
From January to October, Mauritius has welcomed almost 740,000 tourists. The authorities by the end of 2022 are quite sure of achieving the milestone of one million visitors.
The Director of MTPA is quite happy with the optimistic feeling that infuses the peak tourist season and emphasizes that it’s the result of a combined effort of the public and private sectors. The director also said that he would like to seize this chance to express thanks to the Government authorities, all their local and foreign partners, media and the tourism value chain.
