Khalique is known throughout the global interior design industry as a specialist in sourcing unique and innovative materials from around the world. His collections span 11 different categories, from decorative surfaces and wallcoverings to intricate leather paneling and semiprecious stones, performance fabrics and embroideries. At Focus/22, Fameed will be revisiting some of his signature materials with unexpected new finishes.
“We are excited to showcase the new materials we have added to our portfolio, including our award-winning wood veneer wallcovering collection, which has several new patterns and colorways. This wonderfully versatile finish resembles straw marquetry, but unlike traditional straw marquetry, our finish can be used on a much larger, yet cost-effective scale, to create a stunning result that picks up and reflects light beautifully.
“Meanwhile, we have pushed the boundaries of our leather paneling in this collection, with the introduction of a new design that resembles the multi-dimensional contours of fingerprints. Our new range of outdoor fabrics, which artfully combine the look and feel of luxurious interior fabrics with the durability of an outdoor textile, will also be unveiled,” Khalique said.
The new collection will also feature modernized eglomise, inspired by Japanese ink and tattoo work, alongside eglomise that has been combined with ceramic floral elements to spectacular effect. Plaster and gesso play a large role in Fameed’s new materials, with deeply patterned and textured panels adding depth and drama to any space.
The Fameed Khalique House Guest stand at Focus/22 and his new collection provides an abundance of inspiration for designers, whether they are working on private residential projects or larger hospitality and commercial schemes.
“The launch of our latest collection is an invitation to start a creative conversation, giving the designer an opportunity to explore the incredible techniques our artisans and craftspeople use to create these finishes. We hope the new designs spark imagination and ultimately create that ‘wow’ moment for the end client,” Khalique said.
The designs, patterns and colorways of Khalique’s materials can also be fully customized to create fully bespoke finishes, tailored to individual clients and their projects.
