Quality hotels are important to Penang’s tourism appeal

 

In Penang, the presence of international hotel brands will assist this Malaysian state to create an existence in the world’s other regions.

Be it increasing awareness with the help of cross promotional activities or attracting international travellers to visit because of the brand familiarity, it will profit the tourism industry of the local sector and its stakeholders.


Yeoh Soon Hin, the State tourism and creative economy committee chairman, stated that this in a recent ceremony declaring the first appearance of Harris-branded hotels of Ascott in Penang with Harris Sunshine Penang in Ayer Itam.


Hin said that this new hotel under a famous international brand will give travellers yet another motive to come to Penang and take pleasure of their famed hospitality.


It makes them even more attractive as a destination, not just in adjacent countries but also globally, he said.
His office will work towards persuading more such brands to develop their footprint and invest here, Yeoh said.


Now would be the appropriate time, he continued, as there was constant travel demand from people worldwide, eager to get out and discover new places after the pandemic.


He requested industry players located here to carry on grabbing such opportunities and accustom their products as well as services to provide to the recent advancements as well as evolving tourist preferences.


Yeoh stated that research had also pointed that 55% of people still took Covid-19 risks into account before booking their cherished trips.
