On last, Friday a three-day trade fair at the Robinsons Mall Palawan was introduced, showcasing community-based tourist destinations as it plans to demonstrate the world that the tourism industry of the city is once again on its way back to revival, after being impacted by the pandemic and Typhoon Odette which in December 2021 hit the place, said Demetrio Alvior Jr., the City Tourism Officer.
Alvior said that these sites are survivors in the most horrible chapters of their lives. Alvior mentioned that because of global pandemic and yearly disasters, these experiences have made them strong and much stronger than earlier times and that’s the reason they consider that this is the right time to look ahead and create a momentum for a recovered tomorrow.
Patrick Alex Hagedorn, Councilor and chair of the city council’s committee on tourism, stated that they would require aiming on the upturn of CBST.
Alvior added that in Puerto Princesa alone, they have lost P5.5 million on an annual basis from potential tourist receipts and 9,000 plus jobs into tourism.
Also, Alvior emphasized that as the opening of the tourism month of the city was targeted on CBST, the commemoration that didn’t happen in the last two years because of health issues and restrictions related to travel is intended for the revival of the entire tourism sector to its pre-pandemic status.
