The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP), together with UK-based charity Reef-World Foundation, has unveiled the Green Fins Hub, which a global digital platform for providing a major boost to sustainable marine tourism.
The platform will assist diving and snorkeling operators universally to make modest and cost-efficient changes to their everyday endeavors by making use of well-grounded solutions.
The platform would also help them keep track of their yearly developments and converse with their communities and customers.
Green Fins Hub will host two categories of membership. The first would be digital membership obtainable for diving, snorkelling and live aboard operations worldwide.
Green Fins Certified Members will be evaluated every year and trained personally at their operation. The evaluation procedure will continue to be based on customary criteria by making use of a scoring system.
There will be a minimum starting point in order to become a Green Fins Certified Member and a level of bronze, silver or gold licensed members in keeping with performance.
The platform will have other features as well. The Green Fins Community Forum will be for operators worldwide to voice industry needs, debate on environmental issues and share programs and ideas with compatible industry leaders, non-profits and governments.
The Green Fins Solutions Library will provide admission to more than 100 established environmental resolutions to common daily working threats.
