The Tourism Ministry of Thailand is considering extending tourist visas in order to improve visitor numbers.
The Ministry has suggested extending certain visa validity by 15 days.
The tourism ministry wants travelers on the visa-on-arrival arrangement to be able to halt for 30 days as an alternative to the existing 15 days. Visa-on-arrival is obtainable for foreigners from 18 countries.
People from 50 countries presently able to halt for 30 days as part of the visa exclusion system, would be able to halt for 45 days as part of the new proposal, said the Thai Tourism Ministry.
The modifications would be effective for travel between October and March 2023.
Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, the Thai Tourism and Sports Minister is hopeful that Thailand can attract more than 10 million tourist visits this year.
