São Paulo, August 2022 - TAAG Linhas Aéreas Angolanas announced this second-fair (29) or increase in the frequency of flights between São Paulo and Luanda (Angola). The news was presented during a meeting between company executives, associations, travel agents and laborers, which took place in Brazil, in the capital of São Paulo, in the morning. The Company will have four more weeks starting on November 5th and intends to expand to five frequencies per week later or at the end of this year.
In view of the operational growth plan, the CEO of TAAG, Eduardo Fairen, and the executive administrator for the commercial area (CCO), Lisa McNally, visited Brazil this week for strategic meetings with Brazilian partners.
The objective, according to Eduardo Fairen, is to strengthen the relationship with the country, considered a strategic hub for the Company, not referring to mobility between Latin America and Europe, via Angola. “TAAG is a benchmark airline connecting South America and Africa. More than simple transportation, this connection allows a set of cultural and economic exchanges, in addition to a meeting between the communities that share a common history”, sustains the CEO of the Company.
passenger transport
With the increase in the weekly frequencies between São Paulo and Luanda, we will operate between the two destinations, directly, four times a week starting in November. The additional operation between the two cities, with destination to the Guarulhos airport, will be carried out on Saturdays. Já a decolagem de São Paulo até Luanda will take place on Sunday. The aircraft used to transport passengers is a Boeing 777-300. Still no details on how the fifth weekly operation will take place.
Traveling from Brazil through TAAG, via Angola, it is possible to enter tourist destinations in the African savannah, such as South Africa and Namibia, as well as other points, such as Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Moçambique and São Tomé. For Europe, there is a direct link between Luanda and Lisbon (Portugal).
A Companhia also allows you to travel with a single ticket to various cities in Europe, via Madrid, such as Portugal (Porto), Germany (Frankfurt, Munich, Dusseldorf, Berlin), Italy (Rome, Milan, Bolonha) Belgium (Bruxelas) United Kingdom ( London), Spain (Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valência, Corunha, Vigo, Alicante, Bilbau etc).
According to Lisa McNally, the strategic growth plan of TAAG has a key role to boost the economies of two emerging countries that are part of the BRICS, a group of which Brazil is a part, as well as Russia, India, China and South Africa. There are more and more commercial exchanges between Angola and Brazil and we perceive that the demands for visits for tourism and leisure purposes are increasing between these countries, for this reason we decided to increase the frequency of weekly visits between São Paulo and Luanda”, sustains CCO da TAAG.
freight transport
TAAG also has commercial partnerships for cargo transportation. In June, a new alliance was signed with China's aviation group, Lucky Aviation. The company foresees the use of TAAG aircraft under the charter regime, exclusively for intercontinental cargo transportation, connecting China, Angola and Brazil. The transported loads can be raw material, agricultural products, electronic material and various goods. The partnership is valued at US$ 200 thousand, approximately.
This year, TAAG transported more than 1,050 tons of cargo to Brazil, coming from China. The number is 100% higher than that recorded in the pre-pandemic period, in 2019. Between 2019 and 2022, there were more than 4,150 tons of Chinese products transported to the country.
According to data from TAAG, compared to the same period of 2019, 2022 registers an increase of 34% in the occupation of two wines in Brazil, including the space for passengers and cargo. The number is expressive, accounting for the decrease in registered employment in 2021 of more than 70% compared to 2020. "We are looking for opportunities that increasingly allow us to grow in the international market and to boost the economies of the two countries where we operate" , highlights Soria.
