Very shortly, the hospitality sector mostly the hotels will obtain industry status. From Pune, a check of around 181 hotels has already started from Wednesday onwards. Of late, to the hotel industry, the Rajasthan government, awarded industry status to improve better outlay in tourism.
Supriya Karmarkar, Deputy Director of the Maharashtra tourism department, said that Pune tourism directorate is the first one to start the check on August 3 and 4 respectively. The inspection committee along with agency appointed for it will be checking a total of 181 non-classified registered hotels and applied since June 2021 in Pune. On Wednesday, they conducted some visits.
The joint director, directorate of tourism, Dhananjay Sawalkar, said that till now, the department of tourism has received almost 446 applications from all over Maharashtra. During the inspection, if these hotels meet all the criteria, they will be qualified to grab industry status. To the registered hotels, this status will make water bills, electricity charges, property tax and non-agricultural tax available as per industrial rates.
Indira Thakur, public relations officer of the tourism department, said that hotels can persist to get registered themselves with the Maharashtra tourism department and get hold of the benefits attached with the industry status.
Of late, to the hotel industry, the Rajasthan government awarded industry status as part of a countrywide movement to draw investment in the tourism sector.
