British Airways owner orders 37 new Airbus A320neo family aircraft

British Airways owner International Airline Group (IAG) said on Thursday that they have placed an order for 37 Airbus A320neo family jets, including 12 with the conversion of prior options. The firm orders for A320neos and A321neos have also been placed.

Additionally, IAG said they will order 25 aircraft from the A320neo family. They will have the option to buy another 50 aircraft. However, the numbers in which A320neos and A321neos will be bought are not decided yet.

These aircraft will be delivered between the years 2025 and 2028. These will replace the A320ceo family aircraft in the short-haul fleet.

This decision is made to expand the reach of the parent company. Currently, the IAG is the owner of Airways, Aer Lingus, Iberia and Vueling. They are also planning to accelerate the expansion of the company with the aircraft. With this order, it will be third from the airbus this year.

The first buy was in March for six Airbus A320neo and two Airbuses A321neo aircraft. The second was purchased from airbus in June. The IAG said that they were converting 14 options for A320neo family aircraft. They ordered 11 airbus A320neos and three A321neos.

British Airways being the flag carrier of United Kingdom Airlines, decides to expand its business overseas as well. Before Airlines frequently updated their Airbuses. Many believe this decision is implemented to handle the damage caused by the pandemic.

A320neo is an aircraft that has a faster cruising speed, higher two-class capacity and longer range. This is a very attractive choice for any airline.
