The origins of churros are foggy, but one version that is widely accepted is the story of nomadic shepherds who lived in the high mountains and had limited access to fresh food, so they decided to fry dough made of flour and water, as sustenance. Soon enough, the craze of churros had caught on, because who doesn’t love crispy fried dough with sprinkled sugar? Spanish explorers brought this tasty dessert in the 16th century with them, and before one knew it, churros had evolved with chocolate as accompaniment, and a global favourite was born.
The pastry team at Four Seasons Hotel Bengaluru have created a promotion involving the sensory pleasures of hot chocolate and handcrafted churros. These delightfully flavoured treats will be served with a bespoke twist. The menu also has a range of hot chocolates, served with marshmallows and chocolate flakes in flavours such as Valrhona smoked cinnamon (dark), salted caramel and hazelnut (milk), saffron and turmeric (white). The chefs will be using the coveted Valrhona chocolate, which is known for its premium quality and loved by pastry chefs the world over.
Traditionally churros are fried dough pastries showered with powdered sugar, but at Four Seasons they will be served with caramel sauce, chocolate sauce and cheese frosting.
