Waiting times up to 8 hours expected at security screening at Brussels Airport on Monday - Brussels Airport asks passengers to rebook their flights and not to depart on Monday
As a result of the national manifestation in Brussels on 20 June and the announced strike of a large part of the staff of G4S, as well as the staff of the luggage handlers and other companies at the airport, waiting times up to 8 hours are expected at the security screening at Brussels Airport on Monday. The airport therefore asks its passengers again, if possible, to rebook their flight and not to depart on this day.
At the moment there are ongoing discussions with the airlines to cancel as many flights as possible. With waiting times of up to 8 hours at the security screening, the current situation means that many passengers will miss their flight and will be stranded at the airport until Tuesday morning.
Passengers who still wish to depart are asked to regularly check their airline's website as many last-minute cancellations are still expected. We also ask passengers to check the status of their flight on Monday before coming to the airport, and not to come to the airport extra early.
Passengers who do come to the airport are asked to take the necessary precautions given the expected long waiting times. As the restaurant options may be limited, we advise them to bring food and drinks with them for in the queue for the screening, drinking water will be distributed. For those who need medication, please take into account that they may have to queue for a long time, and we advise them to bring enough medication with them.
Brussels Airport regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers by this action day.
Passengers will find more information on the Brussels Airport website, which will be updated regularly.
