A boutique hotel and restaurant in Stratford-upon-Avon has reopened with a new look after undergoing the first phase of a refurbishment project.

The reception and Brook Suite at The Arden Hotel, on Waterside, has been revamped, while The Club Bar—a stylish bar featuring a private riverside terrace—has also seen a refresh.

The project, which has been overseen by the owners The Eden Hotel Collection, will be followed up by the second phase of works later in the year, the refurbishment of bedrooms.

General Manager Josefine Blomqvist said, “It is great to reopen these spaces to our guests. It’s looking lovely and we have had some great feedback from visitors already.”

The hotel is gearing up for a busy summer, holding events including celebrations to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, while Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwickshire are also gearing up for a boost in tourism as a result of the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Blomqvist added, “We’re hoping the Games will have a great knock-on effect on tourism in Stratford and are looking forward to welcoming the visitors it draws to The Arden and Club Bar.”

Interior Designer Lucy Yarwood, who led design on the project, added, “Although we have kept the day-to-day maintenance of the rooms over the years, we felt that the areas needed a refresh.

“We’ve changed the color palette in the reception leading on tones of teals and greens, made tweaks in The Club Bar such as a new feature wall, and added architectural features to the Brook Suite to give it more character—so it’s looking terrific.

“In The Club Bar, we have also retained the black and white framed prints donated by the RSC of famous actors in Shakespearian costume, which have always drawn a lot of interest from visitors.

“We are very conscious of sustainability at The Arden Hotel as well so a lot of our existing furniture in these rooms have been upholstered by a local Midlands company.

“Now these areas are complete we will be able to switch our attention to redecorating the bedroom areas later this year.”

The Arden Hotel is a luxury four-star hotel located in the heart of the historic town center, opposite the Royal Shakespeare Company Theatre.
