Committing to continue raising aviation safety standards, ALTA will be holding its annual face-to-face Safety Committee meeting and ALTA Pan American Aviation Safety Summit on June 6-8 in São Paulo, Brazil.
In its eleventh edition, executives from airlines, airports, flight schools, civil aviation directorates, aircraft manufacturers and suppliers will share an agenda focused on safety culture, data learning, post-pandemic pilot mental and emotional health, accident investigation, safety performance in the region, cybersecurity, technologies to improve safety and air traffic management, to name a few.
The agenda will feature over 30 exhibitors with different specialties in the sector. “ALTA’s Safety Summit is one of the most important safety meetings in our region gathering leaders in the field. Year over year, we see how our industry is getting stronger and raising its safety standards for a stronger and more efficient future. We live in a time of recovery. Therefore, operational safety is more in evidence than ever. Three years after the last face-to-face meeting, we look forward to seeing the Safety community again at such an important event for the industry,” says José Ricardo Botelho, ALTA’s Executive Director & CEO.
This edition will feature a special message from Ambassador C.B. “Sully” Sullenberger, globally recognized for his emergency splashdown in New York City’s frigid Hudson River during what has been dubbed the “Miracle on the Hudson,” earning him second place on the list of TIME’s “100 Most Influential Heroes and Icons of 2009” and the French Legion of Honor.
ALTA’s Safety Committee will be holding its annual face-to-face meeting during the conference. Its aim is to promote the exchange of information, data and statistics in order to identify the main operative risks in the region and seek measures to mitigate them, as well as to exchange best practices between operators and authorities to improve safety ratings in the region.
Captain Rafael Rastrello, Head of Safety of LATAM Airlines and President of ALTA’s Safety Committee comments that “safety is undoubtedly the most important component of the success within the aviation industry, today we can say that we have a very mature industry in terms of safety. Most of our achievements are associated to a constant challenge to ourselves, looking for new technologies, better training practices and, above all, an integrated safety system, which seeks that all members of the aviation system work together to reach better safety results.”
“Aviation safety is one of the keys for the future of the industry. In recent years, important advances have been made in air transport and today we can say that we have a safer industry, understanding that every day is an opportunity to learn about new trends that contribute to making it safer. The agenda of this edition has professionals with global experience who will address current issues that will have an impact on preventing accidents and continuing to offer the safest means of transport,” notes Virginio Corrieri, ALTA’s Head of Safety.
