The hard work and focus on the quality of life has started to pay off in the growth of our meetings industry. It is an honor to be recognized on a global scale, said Athens Development and Destination Management Agency (EATA) CEO, Vagelis Vlachos.
According to Vlachos, Athens this year will “lay out the welcome mat” for a growing number of conferences, forums and corporate events.
Athens is pledging to do it better and more sustainably than ever before, he said adding that EATA is creating the necessary infrastructure to promote “green” meetings, inclusiveness and responsible business travel.
Furthermore, Vlachos said that Athens’ hospitality industry continued to grow by returning to its roots in Athenian culture, especially through the renovation of historic buildings around the city center.
It is very exciting to see Athens transform while proudly holding onto its identity. That’s what will keep Athens on the map for meetings and conferences in the years to come, he added.
