Wizz Air, Europe’s fastest-growing and most sustainable airline*, announced today that it will add a new aircraft to its base in Cluj-Napoca. The new Airbus A321ceo aircraft will join the fleet from the beginning of August, increasing the airline’s number of aircraft in Cluj-Napoca to seven and further expanding its operations.
The new aircraft allows the launch of three new routes from Cluj-Napoca to Corfu, Greece, Naples and Turin, Italy, and increased frequencies for 10 other routes. These recent additions to the flight schedule allows Wizz Air to offer ultra-low fare services from Cluj International Airport. Tickets are already available online on wizzair.com and through the mobile app from as low as 99 RON.
Romanian passengers can now travel from Cluj-Napoca to the island of Corfu every Tuesday and Saturday, with the first flight departing on August 2. Additionally, the other two routes from Cluj-Napoca to Naples and Turin will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays, both starting from August 3. All three new destinations to the two beautiful Mediterranean counties are perfect for family vacations and summer getaways, packed with culture, history, delicious food, lively beaches, and memorable experiences.
With the seven aircraft at the Cluj-Napoca base and the new routes adding up to the Romanian network, consolidates Wizz Air’s leadership position in the market as the largest airline operating from Cluj-Napoca. This reaffirms the airlines commitment to offering popular destinations and ultra-low fares to as many passengers as possible, in the most sustainable way. The airline continues to expand its operations throughout the network, as the industry returns to its pre-pandemic capacity, which is further reinforced by the other 10 routes that will increase in frequency this summer.
In addition to these new markets, Wizz Air also announces the Cluj-Napoca – Paris-Beauvais service will increase with three more flights, to 9 flights per week. The routes to Barcelona and Brussels-Charleroi will both increase with two additional flights, to 7 flights per week. The routes to Málaga, Madrid, Tel-Aviv, Doncaster-Sheffield, Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg, Memmingen and Chania will all increase by one flight per week. With these new and existing routes, Cluj-Napoca residents and the nearby population will be able to travel conveniently to the most exciting destinations in Europe.
