Opulence awaits

Internationally acclaimed hospitality interior design firm Cole Martinez Curtis and Associates (CMCA) unveils the rejuvenation of McClelland House, The Napa Valley Chateau. The restoration and transformation of the luxury inn, originally built in 1878, include six suites and a renewed showcase kitchen, foyer, powder room, dining room and parlor.

“Without strictly hewing to the history of the building and location, we wanted the design to show respect for the past but also be sophisticated, modern and lighthearted,” said Jill I. Cole, ISCH, managing principal, CMCA.

The foyer and parlor welcome each guest gracefully with plush custom sofas finished in Opuzen fabric with pillows from Sabria Collection, elegant draperies framing the floor-to-ceiling windows from Lara Flynn Upholstery, and a striking chandelier provided by the owner. The dining room features intricate crown molding and medallions beautifully complementing the grand table custom made by Saint-Damase Hotel Furniture, fashioned for the inn’s guests to comfortably gather. The showcase kitchen was elevated with a first-class Lacanche range-top and oven finished in a rich French Blue.

“You are most welcome in ‘our home.’ Make yourself comfortable, relax, have fun and indulge in all that the Napa Valley has to offer,” Cole said, referring to the story that the design is trying to tell.

Each guest suite boasts ceilings from 12-16 ft. and includes exquisite features such as cozy fireplaces, freestanding jacuzzi tubs, en-suite seating areas, private outdoor garden terraces and access to the inn’s wrap-around porch. The bathrooms were completely demolished and redesigned to emulate the one-of-a-kind themes in each suite.

“Blending the strong Victorian design elements with a more contemporary feel,” Cole said. “Although traditional in many aspects, with all due respect, the design is not intended to feel like you are staying in your grandmother’s house.”

The opulence of the McClelland House experience may be extended with additional amenities including in-room spa treatments and private wine pairings. Only steps away from the iconic Downtown Napa area, guests may enjoy world-class restaurants, tasting rooms and boutique shopping.
