MMGY Global CEO Clayton Reid to receive HSMAI Lifetime Achievement Award

KANSAS CITY – In honor of his industry leadership and lasting contributions to the field of travel marketing, the Hospitality Sales & Marketing Association International (HSMAI) announced Monday the selection of MMGY Global CEO Clayton Reid as the recipient of a 2021 Lifetime Achievement Award. Known as the Albert E. Koehl Award for Hospitality Marketing, the honor will be presented to Reid at HSMAI’s Annual Adrian Awards celebration, to be held on March 30 in Boca Raton, FL.

“I’m surprised and honored to receive this award, but this is a recognition of what our company has accomplished over 30 years. My individual accomplishments don’t belong in the same echelon as the incredible people who have previously been recognized, but I do think MMGY Global’s collective body of work does,” said Reid. “Our mission to inspire people’s travel across cities and communities around the world has made a difference. We’ve brought innovation, industry insight and a commitment to serve the industry through a singular focus. We have led during crises and worked to build bridges for those whom travel can bring equality, economic opportunity and the greatest intellectual experiences. Together with my MMGY Global teammates, I am so proud of the role we play alongside our industry to drive travel forward.”

Named one of Adweek’s 100 Fastest Growing Agencies, MMGY Global is a worldwide integrated marketing communications and technology company specializing exclusively in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries. It is privately owned by Peninsula Capital Partners, members of the management team and individual investors including Reid, Don Montague and past Koehl Award winner Peter Yesawich.

With its headquarters in Kansas City, MMGY Global now employs more than 400 teammates in 13 offices and six countries. In addition to marketing communications solutions for clients such as Costa Rica, Uber, Pure Michigan and Brand USA, the firm’s work has included support of global issues such as the empowerment of women in the tourism industry, prevention of human trafficking, promotion of sustainability and the power of underrepresented communities in travel.

Previous award winners include Richard Branson, Bill Marriott, Jonathan Tisch, Barbara Talbott and Steve Wynn, among others. Reid will be honored alongside Alice Diaz, the 2021 recipient of the Winthrop W. Grice Award for Public Relations.
