Major changes in rules & regulations for international arrivals in India coming into effect for fully vaccinated travelers

From Monday, major changes in rules &regulations for international arrivals in India will come into effect for fully vaccinated travellers, under which, there would be no requirement of RTPCR test before entering India and no seven-day home quarantine.

Travel agents are positive regarding these changes. They have opined that these will drive international business and leisure travel from city, which was threatened due to too many restrictions both while departing from India and coming back.

Gurpreet Chawla, the president of Micro and Small Travel Agents Association, said, “In a big relief for fully vaccinated travellers entering India, new rules are coming into effect from February 14. Under these rules, as against earlier requirement — of getting a Covid test done 72 hours before entering India — has been done away with. Besides there will be no seven-day home quarantine now, lastly, the requirement of getting a Covid test done on the eighth day after arriving in India too has now ended. All of these are big reliefs for international travellers and we will definitely see some rebound in international bookings.”

Rakesh Kumar, sales head of a travel agency said, “From tomorrow, fully vaccinated travellers, including foreigners and Indians coming to India will only need to submit a form at government’s Air Suvidha portal and upload their vaccination certificates. This is great news for the frequent travellers from city who used to go on business and holiday abroad frequently, but only a fraction of them had been going abroad in recent times just because of the large number of tests and formalities involved. We are hoping that from tomorrow we will see increase in the queries for international destinations.”
