Landal GreenParks, the UK holiday resort company, has announced the launch of a unique new multi-million-pound development in Scotland, designed and created by architects to develop the next generation of UK holiday accommodation and revolutionise the sector.
Landal Barnsoul, set amongst ancient woodland in Dumfries & Galloway in the Southwest of Scotland, will be the newest and most innovative holiday resort in the UK thanks to the newly architect-designed, eco-friendly accommodation opening in late Spring 2022.
“We have wanted to create a concept holiday resort since launching in the UK five years ago and believe this site will act as a blueprint for the future of the sector,” said Paul Hardingham, Managing Director of Landal GreenParks UK. “To help us achieve this objective we have worked with architects and interior designers to create new lodge styles to offer the very best of modern and innovative living in a wonderful part of the UK countryside.
“Not only is the accommodation innovative, it will all be underpinned by very strong environmental credentials, making the resort one of the greenest and most technologically advanced parks in Europe. We are also supporting the domestic tourism sector through significant investment in the development, including the creation of 50 new jobs once the site is complete.”
Different architects have created and developed the new lodges to offer a range of luxury accommodation styles. The first of these, created by Studio Anyo, are the Torp lodges designed to combine the outdoor experience of modern glamping, with the interior look and feel of a boutique hotel.
“There is a real lack of design products in the lodge and park sector, which meet the demands of a luxury experience that is close to nature,” said James Walsh, CEO of Studio Anyo. “We are delighted to be part of the creation of this unique flagship site where our new Torp lodges will bring innovation to the domestic travel sector as customers look for new UK holiday experiences in 2022.”
The second new accommodation style has been created by Baca Architects, which offers design-led living in low impact tower structures, is built with recycled material, and will provide guest with an immersive experience by bringing nature closer interior space.
“We wanted to design accommodation that was different from anything else on the market but was underpinned by the principles of getting closer to nature and built in a sustainable way,” said Richard Coutts from Baca Architects. “The new Landal GreenParks site in Scotland is the perfect place to showcase the luxury and flexible spaces we’ve create for holidaymakers, and we are very excited to be helping bring our Outdoor Sanctuaries to the development.”
The site will be developed in three phases, with phase one seeing the launch of 40 cabins and a coffee house providing local farm produce along with a central reception area. Phases two and three will consist of 220 cabins and facility complex with restaurant, indoor pool, Spa & Baths and experience led activities.
A key part of the development is the environmentally aware design and build of the park. The resort will be powered by green energy, with renewable power generation on site in the form of PV and wind turbines. There will be a zero to landfill policy – with no single use plastics on sale – and an extensive tree planting and wildflower meadow planned.
