Vietnam tourism is slowly walking toward new normal

Due to social distancing, Thai Kim Tuyet had kept her daughter at home for several months. Finally, Thai Kim has being able bring her daughter to downtown Hanoi in a walking tour.

The tour is called the French Architecture in Downtown Hanoi. It has been arranged together by the National Museum of Vietnamese History and Hanoi tourists, attracting visitors to the most beautiful streets of the capital.

At various historical and cultural sites like the Opera House, the Tonkin Palace and the Sofitel Metropole Hotel, they stopped to know more about the history of the buildings.

Visitors can see national treasures at the National Historical Museum. There, they can see things like the Ngoc Lu drums dated back to Dong Son civilization (some 800BC) and gold books and royal seals of the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945), the final feudal regime in Viet Nam.

For the first time, the visitors at the museum can experience an audio guide app. “We are so excited to join the tour with other parents and children. After so long a time at home and learning online, our children can now meet one another and follow the guide to learn about history. The lesson is light, fun and useful for them” told Tuyet. Hoang Thao Ngan, a fifth-grade pupil, said she learned more about architecture and history than she ever would have from a book.
