In a recent GBTA poll, 65% of travel managers reported that their role has changed somewhat to a lot due to the pandemic, with intra-department collaboration, a duty of care, and new policy development named most often. This was among the topics discussed when Catherine Logan, Regional Vice President, Europe for GBTA recently shared her views on what travel management of the future may look like in an interview at The Business Travel Show in London.
Logan highlighted the critical role of the travel manager during the pandemic, how it helped elevate the profile of travel managers, and the need for a robust travel management program with the C-Suite. She shares how, post-pandemic, there is a real opportunity to make the travel manager role more strategic with more focus on the ROI, and where business travel can bring value to the organization and align with business objectives.
“Travel with purpose, not presence,” will be a key driver in this pivotal moment for the industry and the travel manager role as we return to travel.
