Disney Cruise Line Schedules Return to Miami in October

After a successful series of ‘staycation’ cruises in the United Kingdom, Disney Magic is scheduled to resume guest operations in Miami, Florida, on October 28. With the news of the restart came the cancellation of the two prior cruises.

A statement on Disney’s website reads, “As we continue to resume sailings in a gradual, phased approach, it is necessary for Disney Cruise Line to modify some Disney Magic itineraries, as well as cancel the October 21 and October 24, 2021, Disney Magic sailings. Guests who have paid their reservation in full will be offered the choice of a full refund or a cruise credit to be used for future sailing. Guests who have not paid their reservations in full will automatically receive a refund of what they have paid so far.”

Canceled guests who have already paid in full and want to rebook their sailing will receive a 125 percent future cruise credit.

Four-night cruises will call to the Bahamas, while the five-night voyages will call to Mexico and the Bahamas. The line has also axed Key West from itineraries through early 2022, stemming from the controversy of larger cruise ships calling to the Florida island.

Disney requires all adults 12 and older to be fully vaccinated (unless medically exempt). Also, all guests will be tested at the pier before embarkation, regardless of vaccination status. Disney has teamed up with Inspire Diagnostics, a third-party partner, for testing and vaccination verification.

For guests under 12, a negative PCR test result is required within three days of sailing, plus an additional test at the terminal.

When Magic Returns to Florida, it will be the fourth Disney ship sailing in North America. On August 9, Disney Dream resumed sailings from Port Canaveral. Disney Fantasy is scheduled to return with a series of short cruises followed by seven-night sailings on September 11, and Disney Wonder is scheduled to sail from San Diego on October 1.
