Here’s what vacationers are looking for in summer rentals

 

Hotels are making a comeback but it looks like short-term rentals are making a big statement this year. With that being said, you might be interested in the features that renters are looking for. Cinch Home Services surveyed over 1,000 people, including general participants, renters, and property landlords, to find out who's ready to travel, what people look for in short-term rental spaces, and their past experiences with rental properties.

 

Findings include:

• 84% of people are interested in taking a vacation this year, and due to the pandemic, 45% are more interested in privately owned rentals than previously
• 85% of people say price is the #1 booking consideration, followed by location (77%) and cleanliness (61%)
  - People perceive expensive hotels as the cleanest (90%), followed by private rentals (81%), short-term rentals (69%) and average priced hotels (64%)
• Most desired rental locations:
  - Beach (68%), Mountains (53%), Big city (47%), Countryside (37%)
• The top features increasing renters' likelihood of booking private rentals include: enhanced cleaning (70%), lenient cancellation policies (49%), responsive landlords (46%), money-back guarantees (45%), flexible lengths of stay (39%), and extended stay discounts (33%)
• The most popular rental decor styles include:
  - Traditional (49%), Contemporary (47%), Coastal (36%), Modern farmhouse (29%), Minimalist (26%)
