France and ICAO have renewed an agreement on training programmes for aviation personnel from developing countries, with a view to enhancing the capacities of civil aviation personnel selected from these States through the French national training programme.
Made possible by a million euro investment by France, the training will be delivered by Ecole Nationale de l'Aviation Civile (ENAC), an ICAO Regional Training Centre of Excellence.
Through its Technical Cooperation Bureau, ICAO will provide advice on training programmes to be delivered under this agreement which will support ICAO’s objectives and training initiatives.
This collaboration adds on to the already existing ICAO collaboration with ENAC, including the delivery of an advance Masters Programme in Aviation Safety Management, which was developed to improve the effective implementation of Safety Management Systems (SMS) at the service provider level, and the State Safety Programme (SSP) at the State level.
This new agreement directly supports ICAO’s "No Country Left Behind" initiative. This initiative aims at assisting all States to effectively implement ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs), policies, plans and programmes.
