26% of Americans are planning a vacation in next three months: Finder’s Travel Index

Travel plans are on the rise in the US, with just over a quarter (26%) of American adults planning to take at least one trip in the next three months, up from 21% a month ago, according to Finder’s Travel Index

The US has seen its appetite for travel steadily rise over the past three months.

Finder’s inaugural February Travel Index report revealed just 17% of Americans planned to travel in the coming three months. That number rose to 21% by the March survey and now sits at 26% following the April survey.

Americans are most interested in travelling in May, with 13% planning to travel either domestically or abroad over the last month of Spring, while 9% plan to travel over June and July.

All this activity means the US has jumped the global rankings from 12th to 9th place for the percentage of people planning short-term travel.

Overall Malaysia ranks 1st out of 19 countries for the percentage of people who plan to travel over the next three months, followed by India (41%), the Philippines (39%) and Italy (38%).

At the other end of the spectrum are our neighbors to the north in Canada, who rank dead last with just 16% planning any type of travel over the coming three months, followed by Singapore (19%) and New Zealand (20%).

Finder’s Travel Index is an ongoing survey, which has so far gathered responses from 88,966 people in 19 countries.
