The district administration is surveying QR code usage opportunities in tourism as part of developing a sustainable tourism development program in Munnar.
The administration will be developing a mobile app and website and provide QR-coded information. Devikulam sub-collector S Premkrishnan said that the aim of this project is developing a sustainable tourism policy and attract more tourists to Munnar by offering them superior facilities and services.
To quote Mr. Premkrishnan, “Munnar and nearby places are dotted with several tourism destinations. But most tourists do not know much about them and the distance to such spots. Sometimes, local guides and taxi drivers fleece the tourists.”
He said that as part of the study, Munnar was divided into seven parts and information was taken about important attractions, locales, accommodation facilities and distance of Munnar to these areas.
