A New IntercityHotel to Open in Leiden, Netherlands

A new IntercityHotel offering 115 guest rooms is set to open in the Dutch city of Leiden in 2023.

Steeped in culture and located in the Province of South Holland in the West of the country, Deutsche Hospitality’s latest expansion of its portfolio will in future offer both business and leisure travellers an attractive destination close to Amsterdam, The Hague and Rotterdam.

I am delighted that we are continuing to drive forward our successful international growth by launching a new IntercityHotel in Leiden,” said Marcus Bernhardt, CEO, Deutsche Hospitality.

“Leiden draws a colourful mix of visitors thanks to its historic old quarter and its proximity to important economic locations. It is also home to the oldest university in the Netherlands, and the tulip was introduced to western Europe for the first time at the city’s Botanical Gardens. The concept for the new IntercityHotel fits in perfectly with this environment. It combines high-end design with a range of impressive and innovative services which are unique in the upper mid-scale sector.”

As usual, the IntercityHotel Leiden will occupy a central site within walking distance of the old area of the city and will also be situated at the very heart of a new quarter being created around Leiden Central Station. It will provide 115 rooms, a restaurant, a BistroLounge and a lobby. Like at all new generation IntercityHotels, interior design will be by the Italian architect Matteo Thun. The hotel will form part of a new build development called Octagon and will be operated via a lease agreement agreed between STAG Hotels Netherlands B.V. and the project developer Synchroon B.V.

This new hotel in Leiden will provide the brand with its fourth presence in the Netherlands. It joins the IntercityHotel Enschede, the IntercityHotel Amsterdam Airport, which is scheduled to open in 2012, and an IntercityHotel in Breda which has now also been announced. In addition to this, Deutsche Hospitality is already represented in the Netherlands in the form of the Steigenberger Airport Hotel Amsterdam and the Jaz in the City Amsterdam.
