Sea Cloud Cruises cancels winter program; services to resume next spring

Sea Cloud Cruises recently cancelled its entire winter program in the Caribbean and has decided to resume services starting in spring 2021. According to reports, with the launch of the new Sea Cloud Spirit, the company will send its three tall ships on sailing trips in European waters, starting next year.

The company has already decided to refund deposits and is set to offer guests the option of transferring those deposits to voyages in the coming year or into the 2022 season, as well as rewarding the loyalty with an onboard beverage credit. Alongside the plan to start services in the Mediterranean and the Canary Islands in 2021, the company has also developed a back-up plan that will take into account the current EU requirements for ocean voyages, for example, with departures and arrivals in the same port.

Daniel Schäfer, Managing Director, Sea Cloud Cruises said in a statement that in light of the current developments of the COVID-19 pandemic, the necessary step was the only way to give guests and all sales partners the peace of mind when planning for future travel. He mentioned that the latest decision has been undertaken since infection rates are continuing to rise worldwide and almost all the islands in the Caribbean continues to ban ships to enter their territory. He concluded that the cruise line has planned to cancel all voyages that involve uncertainty, and focus attention on the future instead.
