VisitEngland launches new campaign to boost domestic tourism across the U.K.

VisitEngland recently launched a new campaign across the U.K. to encourage people to take up domestic vacations during autumn and winter. The £5 million campaign has been titled ‘Escape the Everyday’ and highlights the quality destinations, visitor attractions and experiences on offer across the cities, countryside and coast of the UK to boost domestic tourism.

The campaign has been undertaken in collaboration with the tourism organisations of London, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The campaign began with a short video and branded content across social media, digital display as well as television advertising. The content is also contributing to drive online traffic to VisitBritain’s official site with various ideas and links to information on autumn and winter activities and experiences across the nations and regions.

The campaign is also calling for tourism businesses, visitor attractions and destinations across the U.K. to get involved. According to VisitBritain’s latest domestic consumer sentiment research, only 19% of Brits surveyed anticipate taking an overnight domestic trip in the U.K. during September and October, and 21% between November and March. Tourism Minister Nigel Huddleston said in a statement that summer may be coming to an end but the U.K.-wide ‘Escape the Everyday ‘campaign will help get great British breaks booked through the autumn and beyond.

He shared that there is a lot to enjoy right across the U.K. and the changing of the seasons is the perfect time for a change of scene. He mentioned that the tourism body is helping the industry get back up and running safely throughout the summer and said that it is important that continuous support is provided to the sector to boost local economies by experiencing the best of the UK.
