Ει βούλει καλώς ακούειν, μάθε καλώς λέγειν, μαθών δε καλώς λέγειν, πειρώ καλώς πράττειν, και ούτω καρπώση το καλώς ακούειν. (Επίκτητος)

The global pandemic has completely changed the face of travel. What’s more, the European Union has  banned all Americans from travel. How is COVID impacting travel within the LGBTQ population?

To find out, the data team at misterb&b -the short-term rental marketplace dedicated to the LGBTQ community- asked 6,000 people from the misterb&b’s community about their travel plans and perceptions for its Post-COVID LGBTQ Travel Survey.

Here’s just some of what they found:

misterb&b’s post-COVID LGBTQ travel survey

  • Most LGBTQ Americans still wish to go on a summer vacation. 38% of all respondents want to enjoy a summer vacation before the end of August and 29% plan to travel again in September or October. Europeans (72%) are more likely to travel again soon versus Americans (65%).
  • And will travel only close to home. 66% of American respondents will stay inside the US whereas 47% of the European respondents will travel abroad as soon as borders are reopened.
  • But they won't travel unless there’s a vaccine. 71% of LGBTQ Americans are waiting for the vaccine to begin traveling again, whereas 60% Europeans (and younger respondents in particular) await the lift of travel restrictions.
  • The vast majority will fly. 60% of LGBTQ travelers will fly on their first post-COVID trip, and particularly young adults (64%).
  • And it's a definite "no" for cruises. 92% of all LGBTQ travelers (American and European) are unlikely to hop on a cruise ship in the coming months.
