Rhode Island lost millions of dollars in tourism revenue

Rhode Island, one of the most popular islands in United States has lost hundreds of millions of dollars in tourism revenue because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Providence Warwick Convention & Visitors Bureau books events in the Providence area and because most of them have been canceled due to the virus, the state has lost about $48.6 million in tourism revenue, according to Kristen Adamo, the bureau’s president and CEO.

It is according to a local media, this global pandemic has cost the city of Newport nearly $300 million in tourism revenue, Evan Smith, president and CEO of Discover Newport

They are going to be rebuilding one customer at a time. Those early pioneers, the first to come out and travel, will be the ones to go back and report to people and say, ‘You know what, it’s OK out there. It’s actually pretty fun.

The local media also reported that Rhode Island has reported 18 more deaths from COVID-19 and 171 new positive cases,. That brings the state’s totals to 711 deaths and 14,819 cases.
