Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group has named seasoned hotelier Torsten M. van Dullemen as the new General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Washington DC and Area Vice President of Operations for the Northeast United States overseeing Mandarin Oriental, Boston and Mandarin Oriental, New York.
Most recently, Van Dullemen held the position of General Manager at The Excelsior, Hong Kong and Area Vice President for South China with oversight responsibility for Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou, Mandarin Oriental, Sanya, and the soon to open Mandarin Oriental, Shenzhen. With over 30 years of hospitality experience and nearly two decades of service with Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, Van Dullemen has held several key positions with the Group including General Manager of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, General Manager of the former Mandarin Oriental, Manila and Mandarin Oriental, Dhara Dhevi, Chiang Mai. Additionally, he was the Hotel Manager of the Group’s award-winning Mandarin Oriental, Bangkok property, and Resident Manager at Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park, London.
Van Dullemen also held the position of General Manager for The Oberoi, Udaivilas in Udaipur, Rajasthan, India that was listed as Travel + Leisure’s #1 Hotel in the World for 2007, Condé Nast Traveller, Best Hotel in the World for 2008 and Best Hotel in Asia 2007, 2008, and 2009 all under his tenure.

A graduate of Hotelschool The Hague, Institute for Hotel Management and Cornell University, Van Dullemen is also member of MENSA International, The High IQ Society. In 2016 Van Dullemen was the recipient of the BMW Hotelier Awards, ‘General Manager of the Year’ for Greater China.
Originally from the Netherlands, Van Dullemen has a broad knowledge of the international luxury hospitality industry and speaks several languages including Dutch, German, French, and Italian. Van Dullemen is an accomplished triathlete and participates in international triathlon competitions. In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with family, reading, and being outdoors.
