Shanghai is all set to lure 360 million domestic travelers and 10 million international tourists every year by 2020 as it gears up to evolve into a world-famous tourism city, as per the local tourism authority.
The focus in terms of the number of international tourists visiting Shanghai by 2035 is around 14 million.
The Shanghai Tourism Administration stated that based on public suggestions, it will think about some tourism routes in the city and its neighborhoods under a Reading Structure project.
By setting up of a tour guide system, tourists will be able to read stories related to the history of the city, culture and life behind the buildings they visit.
Also, this idea will be tried during the forthcoming Shanghai Tourism Festival that will take place between September 15 and October 6. A new “micro tourism” event, called Reading Shanghai, will be side by side introduced during the festival to endorse neighborhood wandering as a way of traveling in the city.
For this event in Huangpu, Jing’an, Xuhui, Changning, Hongkou and Yangpu districts as well as the Pudong, seven routes have been designed, showcasing Shanghai-style elements like buildings along the Bund, local industrial culture and the development of the film and television industry.
