The holiday travel season officially starts at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Over the next 14 days, during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period, more than 1.74 million passengers are expected to move through MCO. That is an increase of 9 percent over last year at this time.
“If the current passenger projections hold true, Orlando International Airport will be extremely busy this Thanksgiving holiday travel season,” says Phil Brown, Chief Executive Officer of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority. “To help ease some of the congestion from this growth, we will be opening our new Automated People Mover (APM) complex and “C” parking garage just in time for holiday travelers.”
The new “C” garage and APM, featuring remote check-in and remote baggage check, will open to the public starting Friday morning, November 17th at 12:01 a.m. The complex is south of the main terminal building, so if you’re approaching the airport from the north follow the signs past the terminal to the “C”
garage. As an added incentive to utilize the new facilities, the cost to park in the “C” garage will be $15 per day compared to the $17 per day charge in the “A”, “B” and terminal top parking garages.
