To cater more tourists’ arrival and to generate economy in the post hurricane period, the Caribbean Islands want to welcome more cruise ships, which are the major tourism focal point, as the peak season for cruise tourism in the Caribbean will began in December.
The tropical storms, Hurricanes Irma, Jose and Maria have made this season one of the deadliest and costliest ever recorded and some destinations in the region, such as Puerto Rico.
The Hurricane affected regions are still running without electricity, basic amenities, other utilities and basic supplies after the storms made landfall and passed on. The fallout from the storms comes as the Caribbean Island’s peak tourism season kicks off in the month of December.
Arnold Donald, the CEO of Carnival Corporation said that that the tourism earnings in the hurricane affected areas are closed and shut down and for this reason, the economy shatters. But there are some other coastal regions and the ports, which are not much affected. The Bahamas escaped damage. These ports which did not see much damages will reopen quickly, including those ports in Havana, Martinique, St. Lucia, Trinidad, Tobago and Grenada. San Juan’s have port just reopened.
This world’s largest cruise transportation system said that the renovation procedures are still going to the ports in St. Thomas, St. Maarten, Grand Turk, Dominica, Tortola, and St. Croix.
Carnival cruise is slightly optimistic about the revival of the economy of the hurricane affected regions. It is expecting that there are additional115 cruise ships will sail to serve in the peak season.
The French cruises set up the meetings to plan about the cruise tourism packages to generate more revenues.
