Brexit hampers the effort to choose hospitality as a career

There is an impediment in the introduction of the new technical qualifications in England for the hospitality and tourism business until more than a year after the likely end of free of movement post- Brexit has been slammed by the British Hospitality Association.

The British Hospitality Association said that the Brexit will hamper the efforts to hearten more young people to consider a career in the sectors once the United Kingdom leaves the European Union.

The chief executive of the British Hospitality Association said that Ufi Ibrahim has written separate letters to the ministers of immigration and education expressing her great dismay at the decision and urging them to reconsider this oversight.

Ufi Ibrahim also pointed out that British Hospitality Association has already outlined a ten year plan to give confidence more British employees into an industry.

This will need an additional 60,000 workers a year to power growth in addition to 200,000 workers needed to replace “churn” each year.

Ufi Ibrahim also told Immigration minister Brandon Lewis that they are not in a position to fill these vacancies without hiring non-UK workers.

UK is currently at near the brim of employment because the educational system, it does not give confidence the young people to consider a career in hospitality.

She also added that if the migratory flows for workers from the European Union and beyond are severely curtailed, particularly non-highly skilled routes, the hospitality industry will be forced to contract, costing jobs and economic growth.

Ibrahim also notified that she is certain that it is possible for these two departments to talk to each other and sort out so that the travel and hospitality industry is not being asked to find more United Kingdom workers with one hand tied behind the back.
