Typhoon Doksuri devastated the entire part of Central Vietnam with maximum wind speed of 135 kilometers (84 miles) per hour, causing floods and the severe power cuts.
The disaster management official Ngo Duc Hoi in Ha Tinh province, where the typhoon made landfall Friday, said six coastal districts were feeling under the storm. It is considered as one of the strongest and powerful storm in the nation.
Nearly 100000 people have been evacuated from coastal regions in preparation for Typhoon Doksuri.
According to Vietnam’s meteorological agency, the severe winds exceeded 130 kilometers per hour.
Due to this wind, the roofs had been blown from 260 houses in the ancient city of Hue. The electricity was knocked out in parts of Ha Tinh and Quang Binh provinces after the wind brought down the power lines along with trees and billboards.
The four fishing boats sank as they were making their way back to land. There are many fishermen had dragged their small wooden boats into the streets of coastal towns to try to stop them from being carried away.
The streets in some of the parts of Ha Tinh province were flooded.
The national and international airlines said that there are about 46 flights cancelled between the capital, Hanoi, in northern Vietnam and Ho Chi Minh City, which is the commercial hub in the south.
The Disaster Prevention Committee has said the blizzard surge from Doksuri could be greater than 2 meters. There are no immediate reports of casualties.
The agriculture Minister Nguyen Xuan Cuong told that the safety of the people was the top priority of the government.
The government of Vietnam also put 250,000 soldiers on standby to cope up the rescue operation.
