John Richards will join the ‘wellness’ cruise line Blue World Voyages as the chief executive. He was earlier the president of Starbucks.

With immediate effect Richards will be working the founder and Chairman Gene Meehan and the development team to lead the cruise line that is entirely dedicated to sports and wellness.
He will be responsible for introducing a new and distinctive cruise industry niche.
Meehan said that the ship line wants to break the traditional rules of cruising and John will help in implementing things differently.
John’s track-record for growing companies into category leaders will help the company enter the global marketplace.
She further added that she was confident that John will help achieve their goal and will expand to a three-ship operation within five years and create a new specialty market for lifestyle cruising.
A 5-star ship is scheduled to be launched in 2018 with first 350 passengers, while there are plans of having a second and third ship by 2022.
Based on the availability of outdoor activities like cycling, hiking, watersports and areas favourable for yoga and meditation the company will evaluate the ports of call.
Richards has earlier helped in executing the resurgence and successful turnaround of the global luxury cruise brand.
