Stratos Jets over 7,900 TSA claims from the past year to uncover just how hard it is to get reimbursed for lost, damaged, or stolen items. Findings:
- Nearly 7 in 10 claims for lost or stolen property are denied by the TSA
- You have a good chance (~50%) of being reimbursed for travel accessories (low-cost items like charging cables)
- Nearly 3 in 4 claims filed for jewelry were denied
- JFK has more claims of loss and theft than any other airport in the country
- More than two-thirds of claims for currency and cameras were denied in 2016
