Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) has cancelled a certain booking for a ‘neo-Nazi’ conference bowing to pressure. The conference was scheduled to take place on one of its cruise vessels.
A far-right group based in Canada, Rebel Media has been planning to host a week-long meeting on board a NCL Caribbean Cruise.
It was so planned that the cruise would depart in November from Miami and thereafter would cross over Honduras, Mexico and Belize. The ‘Rebel Cruise’ had been advertised by the organization as a fantastic way to attract ‘like-minded Rebels’.
This event was widely publicized by a campaign group known as Hope not Hate.
The group then set up a petition and directly made an appeal to the CEO and president of NCL, Frank J. Del Rio to get rid of this platform for a person like Gavin McInnes who is known to normalize the ideas as the ones aired in Charlottesville.
During that time, NCL has published an official statement mentioning to Hope not Hate that owing to their policies they prefer not disclosing the identities of their guests or groups.
But then, yesterday the company suddenly altered its position and confirmed that it had finally cancelled the booking.
